General Nutrition Companies (GNC) has added two new products its Scan-Diet range of weight loss products - Scan-Diet Bars and Ready-to-Drink (RTD) Shakes.

Scan-Diet is a clinically proven soy protein weight loss programme, and the new Bars and Ready-to-Drink Shakes can be incorporated into the programme as a low-calorie snack or a meal replacement. Nutritionally complete, they provide a supply of essential vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fat, protein and fibre.

GNC said that the latest proof to back up its weight loss claims came from a study conducted by The New York Obesity Research Center at St. Luke's/Roosevelt Hospital.

This study found that the Scan-Diet programme was effective in reducing body weight, body fat and cholesterol, and that those who used Scan-Diet had a greater reduction in total cholesterol and LDL (bad) cholesterol, above and beyond what could be attributed to weight loss alone.
